• Made plans to expand and improve and expand Reverse Osmosis water and sewer service while securing grants and loans 

• Replacing water meters with functioning AMI system that reads meters accurately. In the meantime I authorized hiring of a company to manually read meters

• Resolved flooding problems with businesses at Herald Court by assisting  with damage expenses 

• Secured two high water vehicles with State Funding for mobility and rescues during storms

• Purchased Tiger Dams to protect City properties prevent further water intrusion during flooding. 

• Hired engineering firm that specializes in researching cause of flood issues and best ways to mitigate such issues. Public works has been clearing Tide valves to improve drainage

 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

​

• Working with Advent to build Emergency Center and ultimately a Hospital to be located on Jones Loop 

• Approved a new restaurant on the east side of the 41 on Olympia to be opened in late 2026

• Working with the old Waterfront Hotel developer to build a beautiful hotel at the gateway to our city

• Working with Fisherman's Village to encourage new owners with vision for the property in the near future

• Researching the best way to rebuild the city's Laishley Marina. It is now partially open while I work with City Manager and marina experts to formulate a long term plan that will benefit the city and mariners 

• Promoting access to kayak rentals in Ponce de Leon Park and possibly other locations

• Appointed to the Charlotte County Tourism Development Committee to help bring Visitors to Punta Gorda's businesses and attractions.  This tax revenue helps reduce property taxes for homeowners.

QUALITY OF LIFE AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION

• Worked with public works to clean up and rebuild after hurricanes including bathrooms Harbor walk,  Pickleball and Tennis courts 

• Had hazardous benches removed from pickleball courts and increased courts to six with new surface, fencing and landscaping

• Working with Advent Emergency Center and Hospital to be located on Jones Loop between Aldi and Burnt Store

• Canceled 2024 Land Development Regulations which the state deemed were not allowed at this time. Beginning to work with residents to formulate legal, appropriate LDR's with the best from both options

• Working on plans for a large Pavillion structure at the old Bayfront at Gilchrist Park for public enjoyment and events

• ​​Approved plan with local builders to restore Freeman House with help from builders association

• Initiated tours of damaged and neglected City Hall with plans to renovate Historic City Hall for city offices

• Immediately authorized new roof for City Hall to preserve and prevent further damage  

• Promoting Protection of Charlotte Harbor, Peace River and our Shell Creek freshwater resources

• Appointed to the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center Board helping raise awareness of this beautiful park and their dedication and the protection and enhancement of our beautiful natural resources 

• Worked to maintain 911 Call Center in Punta Gorda

• Support Cooper Street Rec Center  community involvement and participation 

 

GOVERNMENT EFFIENCY AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Accepted resignation of previous city manager, hired new city manager

• Chose not to renew previous attorney's contract and hired new outside corporate attorney 

• Canceled 16 to 20 million City Hall addition and renovation and currently looking into cost-effectiveness of rehabilitating Old City Hall.

• Authorized new roof for the whole city hall to control damage from the previous five years of neglect

• Saved over $4500 per month by initiating move to city owned Laishley Community Building for City Council and board meetings 

• Lowered millage rate tax to protect taxpayer while increasing development Impact Fees for new development

• Encouraged City to demonstrate project planning with their continuing work and completion dates  Prioritizing the most important budget items with consideration of reduced property tax revenue

• Authorized online permitting for building department which will increase efficiency for the city and the builders

•   Protecting our Punta Gorda water and sewer plants and infrastructure from a hostile takeover by outside sources
